Collaborators

Those who assisted the Nazis to achieve their goals in the Holocaust. Given the scale of the Holocaust, collaboration was necessary for implementing various Nazi policies, including the persecution, deportation, and massacre of European Jews. The motivations for collaborators included their own antisemitic beliefs and ethnic hatred, nationalism, and general opportunism. Although many individuals and governments collaborated willingly and even enthusiastically, some individuals and organisations were given little choice but to assist the Nazi regime; many were threatened with persecution, violence, deportation or death.
