Domestic visa

Many Jewish people, particularly Jewish women, were able to leave Germany on domestic service visas because it allowed them to secure a job in a foreign country in domestic service. Around 20,000 women emigrated to the UK on domestic visas to work, which saved them from Nazi persecution. Domestic visas were often given to young women, but many with children were excluded, as most employers would not allow them to bring their children with them.
