Gestapo

The Gestapo, or Geheime Staatspolizei, was the secret state police service of Nazi Germany. It was controlled by the SS and was responsible for protecting the Reich against all perceived enemies, including those who were seen as racial enemies, e.g. Jews, Roma, Sinti, homosexuals. The Gestapo were in charge of the deportations of Jewish people to the concentration camps and killing camps.
