These sessions bring history to life in ways that are meaningful for young people, offering them a chance to put their critical skills into practice, see today’s world differently and imagine new possibilities for themselves.

Creating Change: Zine making

Zines have historically been the medium through which individuals, groups and marginalised communities have been able pursue shared ideas and subjects through making and distributing hand-made publications.

In this special session, students use our collections as a starting point to create a zine focused on themes that matter to them, including human rights, the importance of tolerance and community.

The aim is to connect past, present, and future and inspire creative action to help shape a better future.

Never Again? Politics of Remembrance

(Secondary plus only)

After the Holocaust, the phrase ‘Never Again’ was repeated across the world.

Sadly, genocide has happened in many cultures and countries, and continues today. This session explores the history of genocides and human rights abuses since the Second World War, and how the Holocaust impacted global responses to crimes against humanity. We will then consider how we memorialise and the politics of remembrance in our communities.

Listening to History

Hearing from a survivor of the Holocaust or their direct relatives is an extraordinary opportunity to gain an intimate insight into history by creating a real connection to the past.

Descendants of Holocaust survivors, called Second and Third generations, explore how the Holocaust affected their family’s lives, and how the legacy of the Holocaust continues within them.

Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel once said that ‘whoever listens to a witness becomes a witness.’ This is why this is one of our most popular sessions.

All sessions last approximately 1 hour for groups of up to 40 students, for groups of more than 40 students, please contact us to discuss options.
